Dangote Refinery Begins Loading Petrol For The First Time, Over 300 Trucks Ready
The Dangote Refinery has announced that the initial batch of trucks has started loading Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at its facility.
In a video shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Dangote Group confirmed the development, stating: “HAPPENING NOW: First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.”
This milestone comes shortly after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) revealed on Saturday that over 300 trucks had arrived at the refinery to load petrol.
This marks the first time in several years that locally produced petrol will be loaded within Nigeria.
Earlier, Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance, and Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, confirmed that all necessary agreements had been finalized for NNPCL to lift petrol from the Dangote Refinery.
Petroleum marketers have expressed optimism that the distribution of petrol from the refinery will alleviate fuel scarcity and eventually lead to a reduction in prices.
