In a thought-provoking pre-convocation lecture delivered at Bayero University, Kano, Dangote underscores the immense potential and benefits inherent in transitioning from a resource-based to a knowledge-based economy. “Given the tremendous benefits that knowledge economy offers,” Dangote asserts, “it is vital that Nigeria makes the transition from a resource-based economy to a knowledge-based economy.”

Quoting insights from a World Bank publication, Dangote highlights the centrality of knowledge to development, emphasizing its transformative impact on productivity and economic growth. He emphasizes that the transition to a knowledge economy necessitates attention to various facets, including the business environment, education, innovation systems, and information communication infrastructure.

Represented by the Group Executive Director of the Dangote conglomerate, Engineer Mansur Ahmed, Dangote underscores the imperative of fostering a conducive business environment that incentivizes the efficient utilization of existing knowledge. He advocates for leveraging existing research institutions and knowledge repositories to drive innovation and economic diversification.
