Bwala’s reflections were prompted by Obi’s recent declaration of intent to part ways with the LP before the 2027 general elections.

The former Anambra State governor has adamantly declared his refusal to remain bound to the party, citing unresolved issues as grounds for his potential departure.

LP has been ensnared in a leadership crisis between Lamidi Apapa and Julius Abure, compounded by an ownership dispute involving the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

In response, Bwala remarked that Obi finds himself in a dilemma due to the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) lack of an automatic ticket, which he plans to join.

Expressing his thoughts on X, Bwala conveyed: “BREAKING NEWS: The presidential candidate of @NgLabour in the 2023 elections, @PeterObi, appears to be haunted by a ghost of his own creation. Recognizing the absence of an automatic ticket within the Labour Party, he has issued a stark ultimatum – conform or face his departure.

“The Social Democratic Party, which he hopes to utilize as a platform, does not offer automatic tickets either. Peter Obi’s apprehensions about winning delegate elections, given his limited grassroots political support, have plunged him into a quagmire.”

Bwala further disclosed: “Reports suggest that a former president is encountering significant difficulties in rallying the nation’s statesmen behind Obi’s move, as they prefer to allow @officialABAT ample time to enact reforms in Nigeria.”

He continued: “Peter Obi has reportedly been advised to swiftly launch a campaign aimed at courting support from core northern Nigeria and Muslim communities nationwide, aiming to dispel accusations of identity politics. Though he has embarked on this endeavor, there are concerns that foreign media outlets may find rebranding him too challenging based on analytical assessments of his prospects.

“His loyal base, known as the ‘Obedient’ people, has unequivocally conveyed their unwillingness to accept any merger that jeopardizes his presidential aspirations. He finds himself caught between a rock and a hard place.”
