The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has affirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prepared to allocate all necessary resources to eradicate the escalating insecurity in Nigeria. This statement came as the Minister addressed the troops of the 17 Brigade in Katsina, emphasizing the urgent need to tackle persistent security challenges in the state.

During a visit to the border town of Gurbin Baure in the Jibia Local Government area of Katsina State, Abubakar spoke to reporters about the ongoing military operations against banditry.

Earlier, Abubakar informed the troops that President Tinubu was pleased with recent strides made in the fight against banditry. He emphasized the president’s recognition of the progress achieved in military operations aimed at curbing the issue.

“President Tinubu has asked me to express his gratitude to you and encourage you to intensify your efforts in eliminating insecurity in these operational areas. He is ready to supply everything you need to eradicate insecurity. Are you prepared to finish them off? Are you ready to end banditry soon?” he queried.

The Minister also stated, “In recent months, we have seen daily progress, and I believe that all states are cooperating to end banditry in the North-West. We require significant support from the general public.

“I traveled by road to assess our deployments. The Zaria-Gusau Road has been notorious for kidnappers. We have re-strategized and improved our deployment there, and I am pleased with the measures taken to reduce attacks on motorists in the area.

The Minister was accompanied by Maj Gen Oluyinka Soyele, Commander of the Joint Task Force North-West Operation Fansar Yamma, and was received by Brig. Gen. B.O. Omopariola, Commander of the 17 Brigade in Katsina State.

After inspecting the troops attached to the Air Component of Operation Fansar Yamma at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina, he proceeded to the 213 Operating Base, Quick Response Wing 1 of the Nigerian Air Force, where he urged the troops to act decisively against insecurity.

“End insecurity now! Do you understand?” he declared.
