Dele Momodu React To EFCC Approach In Yahaya Bello’s Case

Momodu criticized EFCC’s investigative process, suggesting they failed to conduct due diligence in their case against Bello. He particularly questioned EFCC’s assertions that Bello used government funds to pay his children’s school fees upfront before the end of his tenure.
During an Instagram Live session, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart faulted EFCC’s conduct and advised its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to learn from the mistakes of his predecessors who were ousted disgracefully.
Expressing disappointment, Momodu highlighted the importance of adhering to the rule of law and conducting investigations meticulously and professionally. He urged against resorting to media trials, emphasizing the need for thoroughness in legal proceedings.
Asked about EFCC’s credibility regarding Bello’s case, Momodu expressed skepticism, suggesting that EFCC had indeed faltered in their investigations. He pointed out inconsistencies in the allegations, citing discrepancies in the timeline of events.
EFCC had accused Bello and three others of money laundering amounting to N80.2 billion during his tenure as governor. Specifically, Olukoyede accused Bello of withdrawing $720,000 for his children’s school fees before leaving office, an allegation vehemently denied by the former governor.
