The Delta State Police Command has arrested two young men suspected of belonging to an armed robbery syndicate allegedly operating with a tricycle in the state.

The police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement, saying the suspects, identified as Musa Haruna, 22, and Mubarak Abdulahi, 20, were arrested on October 11, 2026, following intelligence reports about their alleged criminal activities.

According to the statement, operatives attached to the Orerokpe Divisional Police Headquarters received information from the Civilian Anti-Cult Group in Osubi about suspected armed robbers allegedly operating along Osubi Road.

The police reportedly mobilised alongside members of the civilian group and local vigilantes, leading to the interception of a tricycle with registration number BDG 429 QN and the arrest of the two suspects.

A search of the tricycle allegedly led to the recovery of a locally manufactured, cut-to-size double-barrelled shotgun, seven live cartridges and a jackknife.

Edafe said preliminary investigations suggested that the suspects were allegedly members of a criminal network involved in robbing and abducting unsuspecting passengers before forcing them to transfer money from their bank accounts.

The police spokesperson added that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other suspected members of the alleged syndicate and ensure that those found culpable are brought to justice.

The command reiterated its commitment to tackling armed robbery and other criminal activities across Delta State, urging residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and apprehending suspects.
