According to Ireporter Online, operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested seven suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted victims during a coordinated operation in Ubeji Community, Warri South Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest in Warri on Friday, said the suspects were apprehended on Thursday by officers attached to the Ekpan Division under the leadership of Divisional Police Officer, CSP Labe Joseph.

Edafe explained that the arrest followed credible intelligence received about a kidnapping incident at Ubeji, near the Ubeji Gas Plant. Acting swiftly on the report, the DPO dispatched a team of detectives and patrol officers to the area. Upon sighting the advancing operatives, the suspects reportedly fled into an abandoned poultry farm, but the police successfully cordoned off the premises and captured all seven suspects.

He disclosed that the victims, who were abducted from a dredging site and ferried across the river by the assailants, had been safely rescued and reunited with their families. Preliminary investigations revealed that the kidnappers had contacted the victims’ relatives, threatening to kill their captives if their ransom demands were not met.
