Devastating Explosions Rock Niger State: One Dead, Several Injured In Bomb Attack On Rural Community
According to residents, the first explosion occurred while the three siblings—Mali (20), Nehemiah (14), and Jona (15)—were riding a motorcycle. A second explosion followed when a rescue team’s bike hit another bomb, resulting in the death of one of the rescuers, Dauda Haruna.
Enoch, the father of the injured children, described the horrific moment, recalling that he had heard a sound resembling gunshots before learning that his children had stepped on a bomb. Tragically, the bombings marked the second such attack in Bassa this month.
Eyewitness Sa’adu Shuaibu recounted how the first rescuer, unable to assist alone, rushed back to the community for help, only for another bomb to detonate on their way, claiming the life of one rescuer and leaving another with severe injuries.
As of the time of reporting, the Niger State Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, had yet to issue an official statement.
