According to Ireporter Online, the exchange rate of the United States dollar to the Nigerian naira at the black market, also known as the parallel market, remained relatively high on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Findings from market operators at the Lagos parallel market indicate that traders sold the dollar at ₦1,450, while buyers purchased it at ₦1,435. These rates reflect the prevailing conditions in the informal foreign exchange market, where rates are largely influenced by demand and supply dynamics.

Ireporter Online notes that individuals looking to exchange foreign currency at the black market are often subject to fluctuating prices, as rates may differ slightly depending on location and the Bureau De Change operator involved.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria has continued to distance itself from activities in the parallel market, reiterating that it does not recognise black market transactions. The apex bank has consistently advised Nigerians seeking foreign exchange to conduct such transactions through authorised commercial banks.

On the official market, data shows that the dollar exchanged between ₦1,361 and ₦1,373 at the CBN window. Market watchers are advised to note that forex rates may vary, and the prices at which currencies are bought or sold may not always align exactly with published figures.
