Edo 2024: Igbo Community Backs Okpebholo for Governor
The Igbo community in Igbanke, located in the Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State, has thrown its weight behind Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming governorship election in the state.
As reported by Infopowerng, the Edo State governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Expressing their desire for development in their area, the community has committed to fully supporting Okpebholo’s candidacy.
Dr. Emeka Maduka, a prominent leader among the Igbanke people and the Igbo settlers in the state, voiced concerns over the long-standing neglect of their community. He emphasized the urgent need for inclusive governance in Edo State.
During a campaign rally held in the area, the community expressed their unwavering support for Okpebholo, highlighting their dissatisfaction with the current administration’s unfulfilled promises.
The community lamented the unmet pledges made by previous leaders, which have left Igbanke in a state of neglect and underdevelopment.
In response, Senator Okpebholo assured the gathering that he is committed to addressing their concerns. He pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would prioritize infrastructure projects, including road construction and the provision of essential services, which the community has been deprived of for too long.
