EFCC Busts Internet Fraud Syndicate: 74 Arrested In Ogun State

In a major crackdown on cybercrime, operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended seventy-four (74) suspected internet fraudsters in Ogun State. The anti-graft agency disclosed on its Twitter page that the suspects were nabbed following extensive surveillance and intelligence operations, uncovering their involvement in various internet-related offenses.

During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized a cache of incriminating items from the suspects, including seven luxury cars, three laptops, 124 mobile phones, a PlayStation 3 gaming console, two motorcycles, and assorted documents.

In a statement, the EFCC affirmed its commitment to prosecuting the suspects once investigations are concluded, underscoring its determination to root out cybercrime and protect citizens from financial fraud and online scams.

The bust underscores the agency’s relentless efforts to combat cybercriminal activities across the country, safeguarding the digital space and upholding the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
