This development was disclosed in a statement issued by Odigie Charles, the spokesperson for NDLEA Osun State Command, on Monday in Osogbo.

According to the statement, the man, identified as Dauda Lamide, was apprehended during a patrol in Iwo on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.

The drugs were found packed inside two engine oil gallons.

The statement further revealed that Lamide had previously been sentenced to three years imprisonment for the same offense in 2019.

“The Command operatives, while carrying out motorized patrol in Iwo on Saturday, 23rd March 2024, intercepted one Dauda Lamidi, 65 years, with dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa inside two engine oil gallons which weighed 1.550 kg.

“Dauda, who is an ex-convict, was convicted for the same offense in 2019 for three years,” the statement read.
