FIFA has withdrawn its proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise project after consultations with football stakeholders revealed that the initiative had created divisions within the global football community.

According to Ireporter Online, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the decision on Friday, stating that the project would no longer proceed after feedback from Member Associations and other key stakeholders showed that it had become a source of disagreement.

The world football governing body explained that the initiative was originally created to strengthen FIFA Member Associations and accelerate football development globally, especially in countries requiring additional financial and institutional support.

FIFA said the proposal was always dependent on receiving broad approval from its members, the FIFA Council, continental confederations and other stakeholders before implementation.

However, after a series of consultations, the organisation acknowledged that the project had generated divisions that were not aligned with its objective of promoting unity and improving the game worldwide.

FIFA stated that its priority has always been to unite football stakeholders and enhance the growth of the sport, adding that the proposed Forward Enterprise project would therefore not be implemented.

Infantino said the decision was taken in the best interest of football and announced plans to engage with stakeholders in the coming days and weeks to rebuild consensus.

The FIFA president stressed that the organisation remains committed to expanding football development, particularly in nations that require greater support to grow the sport.
