Fintiri Applauds Judiciary’s Integrity: Declares Judgement Not For Sale
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, lauded the Nigerian judiciary’s integrity, emphasizing that judgements are not influenced by monetary considerations…..CONTINUE READING
Addressing journalists at the Yola International Airport following the Supreme Court’s ruling that upheld his election, Fintiri expressed unwavering confidence in the judiciary’s impartiality based on his personal experiences.
“I have never lost faith in the judiciary. They have been standing firm and doing their job. They have never allowed judgement to be on the shelf like Hudu Ari did under INEC,” Fintiri affirmed.
In reference to Hudi Ari, the governor cited the state resident electoral officer who was suspended for prematurely declaring a winner in the March 2023 election before all results were collated.
The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday, deeming Hudu’s actions criminal as he lacked the authority to declare a winner, being not the designated returning officer for the election.
Following the premature declaration, Hudu announced Senator Aishatu Ahmed (Binani) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor Fintiri’s main opponent.
Rumors circulated that Hudu had accepted N2 billion to unlawfully announce a victor in an election that had not concluded. The Supreme Court’s ruling reinforced the independence and integrity of the judiciary, reassuring Nigerians of its commitment to fair and just decisions.
