According to Nigerian Guardian, the former governor of Gombe State, Danjuma Goje, will officially dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.

Goje, who is representing Gombe Central in the Senate, is expected to defect with thousands of his loyalists and associates, having been reportedly elbowed out of relevance in the APC by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

A chieftain of the PDP (name withheld) confirmed to Nigerian Guardian “Let me do you the honour of hinting you that politics has changed in Gombe State. Come to our (PDP) Secretariat on Wednesday and see how Goje defects with over a million supporters.”

According to the source, though Sen. Goje and his successor, Hassan Dankwambo have for long refused to agree on issues. “They have now resolved to work together for the common good of Gombawa and the state,” he added.

Last Saturday, Dankwambo visited the state, three years after leaving office, describing the rot in the state as man-made and calling for change of government at the next poll. An intimidating crowd of supporters and well-wishers thronged the metropolis chanting his praises.

“We are here to pay him back for his magnanimity to the state as a governor,” a resident at the Lawanti airport had said.
