Representing the governor, Chief of Staff Shehu Sagagi officiated the reunion.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the government’s stance against violent protests, attributing the scale of the demonstrations to a lack of education.

“We do not support anyone engaging in violent protests. What occurred in Kano during the #Endbadgovernance protest was unprecedented and deeply concerning,” Yusuf said.

He further highlighted the state government’s commitment to education, noting that Kano allocated 31% of its budget to education—exceeding the United Nations’ recommended 25%.

The governor urged parents to guide their children responsibly and warned against misusing funds collected through associations, promising to ensure proper distribution of donations.

Hamza Nuhu, the leader of the legal team representing the minors, clarified that peaceful protests are not illegal but become problematic when violence or disruption occurs.

Speaking on behalf of the minors, Abba Usman claimed they were unjustly detained, stating none of them engaged in acts of vandalism or violence.

Parents expressed gratitude to the federal and state governments, as well as stakeholders, for securing the children’s release and ensuring their rehabilitation and reunion.
