FRSC Corps Marshal Orders-Investigation And Prosecution Of Truck Driver For Knocking-Down Operative
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has ordered a “holistic investigation” and immediate prosecution of the truck driver who knocked down an FRSC operative along the Kaduna-Doka road.
Emphasizing that the corps will not tolerate assaults and attacks on its personnel while on lawful duty, a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, detailed the directive. The investigation was prompted by a rising number of knockdowns, assaults, and attacks on FRSC personnel in recent times.
According to The Nation, on May 29, a Dangote Truck with registration number TAK 818 SB knocked down an FRSC operative along the Kaduna-Doka road. The driver initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by a combined team of military, police, and FRSC personnel.
The statement underscored the Corps Marshal’s determination to enhance collaborations with the judiciary for the swift prosecution of offending drivers, given the severe impact of such incidents. “In view of the devastating impact of these knockdowns, the Corps Marshal has reiterated the resolve of the Corps to deepen existing collaborations between the Corps and the Judiciary for speedy prosecution of erring drivers,” the statement said.
