Fuel Rip-Off! NMDPRA Shuts Down 7 Petrol Stations For Short-Changing Buyers

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed seven filling stations in Kogi State for under-dispensing fuel and unauthorized branding.

“It is disheartening that some individuals continue to sabotage the system for personal gain. While they are allowed to sell at their preferred price, cheating customers will not be tolerated,” Godwin stated.

He emphasized that under-dispensing petroleum products is a serious offense, warning that defaulters will face strict legal consequences.

“NMDPRA recently inspected 50 filling stations, and seven were shut down for under-dispensing. These stations will now be required to make remittances to the federal government as a deterrent to others engaging in similar malpractices,” he added.

The affected filling stations include:

• Solag Resources Limited (Ankpa)
• Hismus Oil and Gas (Obajana)
• Riyenic Global Limited (Oke-Ibukun, Kabba)
• S.O.T Nigeria Limited (Omuo, Kabba)
• Marktot Oil and Gas (Kabba) – also penalized for unauthorized branding
• NIPCO Filling Station (Phase 1, Lokoja)

Additionally, four filling stations in Ankpa Local Government Area were sealed for operating without a license:

• Absala Oil and Gas
• Yak Ali Oil and Gas
• Yamuda Nigeria Limited
• Hanimat Nigeria Limited

Godwin issued a stern warning to marketers operating illegally, urging them to obtain proper registration to avoid legal action.

“There will be no room for individuals trying to undermine government efforts to ensure the availability of petroleum products without compromise,” he concluded.
