According to Ireporter Online, at least 12 countries have been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup ahead of the final round of group-stage fixtures scheduled for Saturday. The latest nations to bow out of the competition include Iraq, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand following a series of decisive Friday matches that reshaped the qualification picture.

Iraq’s exit was confirmed after a crushing 5-0 defeat to Senegal, a result that not only ended their campaign but also boosted Senegal’s chances of advancing, with the African side strengthening their position in Group I. Uruguay, two-time world champions, were also sent packing after suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to Spain, a result that secured Spain’s progression hopes while ending Uruguay’s tournament run.

Saudi Arabia’s elimination was confirmed despite holding Cape Verde to a goalless draw, as the result proved insufficient to keep their knockout ambitions alive. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s campaign ended in disappointment after a heavy 5-1 defeat to Belgium, with the European side further enhancing their qualification prospects.

Other teams already eliminated from the tournament include Haiti, Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, Panama, Qatar, Czech Republic, and Curacao, bringing the total number of confirmed exits to at least 12 as the group stage nears completion.
