Ganduje Wastes No Time: First Major Political Step After Resignation
Former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has taken his first significant political step since stepping down from office three months ago. Ganduje attended a closed-door meeting with Kano APC stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday, where discussions centered on strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Key figures present included Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other party leaders. Speaking at the gathering, Ganduje encouraged members to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise. “Let’s see how we can motivate our people to register. So far, the process is going well, and we want to assure the people of Kano State that our members will register to ensure a strong turnout during the elections,” he stated.
Deputy Senate President Barau also voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu, saying, “We fully back the President and his efforts for the nation. We have never requested anything from him that he has not provided, including educational institutions and development projects.”
Kano APC leaders reaffirmed their commitment to reclaiming the state from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in 2027, which currently governs under Governor Abba Yusuf. Ganduje had resigned as APC National Chairman on June 27, citing “urgent and important personal matters” and expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve at the party’s top leadership level.
