Goodluck Jonathan’s Associates Break Silence On His Alleged 2027 Presidential Ambition

According to Ireporter Online, political associates of former President Goodluck Jonathan have stated that only the former Nigerian leader has the authority to speak on his political future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The associates cautioned against individuals making statements or interpretations regarding Jonathan’s political direction without proper authorisation, stressing that such comments should not be mistaken for his official stance.

The clarification comes amid renewed public debate triggered by a media report quoting a former presidential aide, Jude Imagwe, who reportedly dismissed speculations surrounding Jonathan’s possible return to active politics.

In a statement issued by the Coordinator of The Goodies Movement, a pro-Jonathan political support group, Sam Presto, the associates questioned whether Imagwe’s comments reflected a personal opinion or an officially sanctioned position.

The group insisted that only direct communications from Jonathan himself, or through his officially recognised representatives and communication channels, should be regarded as authentic expressions of his political intentions.

They further urged journalists and media organisations to exercise due diligence in verifying individuals claiming to speak on behalf of political figures, warning against misrepresentation.

The statement also emphasised that all endorsements, denials, and speculations about Jonathan’s political future should be treated as personal views unless formally confirmed by authorised sources, adding that Nigerians deserve clarity and factual reporting rather than assumptions and political speculation.
