Responding to these unfounded accusations, Nathaniel Bassey has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, urging an investigation and prosecution of four individuals for criminal defamation and cyberstalking. The petition, submitted through Bassey’s legal representatives – Peter Abraham, Uche Matthew, Gbenga Agunloye, and Anthony Abia – implores police authorities to swiftly address the matter.

The petition outlines how social media posts by Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid have maliciously tarnished Bassey’s reputation, violating criminal codes and cybercrime laws. These individuals allegedly propagated false claims of Bassey being the father of Mercy Chinwo’s child, despite her being married to another man.

The petition highlights the damaging effects of such baseless accusations on Bassey’s image and reputation, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the matter to prevent further harm. Bassey’s legal team emphasizes the potential repercussions of such actions, which can destabilize marriages and irreparably damage reputations.

In light of these grave concerns, Bassey’s legal team implores the Inspector General of Police to intervene promptly, investigate the matter thoroughly, and bring the perpetrators to justice. They assert that swift action is necessary to deter similar acts in the future and uphold justice and integrity in the digital space.
