Gov Ododo Seeks FG Assistance For Insecurity And Flooding In Kogi

Kogi State, being a transit state that shares borders with the federal capital territory and 10 other states, requires urgent assistance to mitigate the impact of these challenges not only on the state but also on neighbouring states and the federal capital, Abuja.

Call for Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Ododo

In a separate development, human rights lawyer Deji Ajare has called on the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Usman Ododo. Ajare’s request is based on serious allegations of misconduct and abuse of office by the governor. Specifically, Ajare cited the governor’s alleged use of the state’s official motorcade to aid the escape of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, from arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ajare argued that such actions amounted to harbouring a fugitive, obstruction of justice, and misuse of state resources, warranting impeachment. Following the incident, Bello has been declared wanted by the EFCC, and the Nigeria Immigration Service has placed him on its watchlist. The Inspector General of Police has also ordered the withdrawal of all police units attached to Bello. Ajare urged the Kogi State House of Assembly to cooperate with federal authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and uphold justice and accountability in the state government.
