Gov Sani Speaks On Religious, Ethnic Cleansing In Kaduna After Village Bombing
“Let me make it clear (that) in Kaduna State, we don’t have any religious or ethnic differences,” he said.
“At the beginning, a lot of people particularly the religious and ethnic merchants, I’m not surprised if some of them decided to make this issue look like it’s a religious issue. As governor of Kaduna State, we are working together as a team in religious harmony.”
The governor clarified that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) led a delegation to the Kaduna State Government House to express condolences to the state government and Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government Area following the unfortunate incident on Sunday.
The tragic event has garnered condemnation from both local and international watchdogs, prompting calls for investigations and a standardized review of procedural activities.
In the aftermath of the airstrike, confusion ensued, with many pointing fingers at the Nigerian Air Force. However, the agency swiftly disclaimed responsibility for the incident. Hours later, the Kaduna State government revealed that the Nigerian Army had acknowledged culpability for the accidental bombing in Nigeria’s North-West region.
The Army has since taken responsibility for the accident, with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, offering apologies to the community during his visit and pledging to prevent a recurrence of such an incident.
“My assessment of that unfortunate incident of Sunday, December 3, 2023, is that it is grave, regrettable. We will do everything possible to prevent such an occurrence from happening again in the conduct of our operations going forward,” he said about one of the country’s deadliest military bombing accidents.
Both the Federal and Kaduna State governments have ordered a full investigation into the incident.
