Governor Umo Emo Clarifies Relationship With Tinubu: “I Can’t Fight Him”

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a cordial relationship with the center, Emo stressed that he couldn’t engage in a feud with President Tinubu or allow his administration to indulge in unhealthy rivalry with the federal government. He highlighted the potential negative impact such conflicts could have on the state’s development initiatives, as outlined in his administration’s ‘Arise Agenda’.

The governor underscored the need to avoid confrontation with the center, acknowledging the dependency of the state on federal resources for its development projects. He cautioned against using state funds to create tension with the federal government, emphasizing that such actions would ultimately harm the people of Akwa Ibom.

Emo further outlined the significant strides made in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and welfare programs within his tenure, attributing these achievements to the constructive relationship with the center. He urged the defectors to integrate themselves into the PDP and contribute positively to the party’s objectives.

Instructing the State PDP Chairman to ensure equal treatment for the new entrants, Emo reiterated his commitment to fostering unity and progress in Akwa Ibom, underscoring the importance of constructive engagement over political discord.
