The 48-year-old American artist secured victories in multiple categories, bagging Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for ‘Scientists & Engineers,’ alongside the coveted Best Rap Album for his work titled “Michael.”
Despite the celebratory atmosphere surrounding his wins, the joyous occasion took an unexpected twist when law enforcement arrived and escorted Killer Mike out of the venue. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has yet to disclose the reason behind the arrest, noting it’s a misdemeanor unrelated to the awards.
Killer Mike, known for his outspoken political activism, notably supported Bernie Sanders and endorsed Democratic senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in his home state of Georgia. The shocking incident has left fans and the industry questioning the circumstances surrounding the rapper’s arrest on what should have been a triumphant night.
