Gunmen Attack In Imo Leaves Four Policemen, PoS Operator Dead
Gunmen on Monday evening killed four policemen and a Point of Sale(PoS) operator on the Onitsha Road area of Owerri, Imo State.
The fleeing gunmen are reportedly being chased by the policemen attached to Ogbaku Police Division.
The gunmen were said to have opened fire when the cops were on motion at the AA Rano and Gbobal fuel stations areas of the Road.
According to eyewitnesses, the cops and a POS operator were confirmed dead in the attack while the gunmen fled.
“The gunmen engaged the policemen in a shootout and four of the policemen including a POS operator were killed and they were covered in the pool of their blood,” one of the eyewitnesses said.
Imo Police spokesman Henry Okoye confirmed the incident to the Nation.
He said: “For now four police officers have been confirmed dead. Investigation is ongoing to unravel the miscreants responsible for the senseless attack.”
