described the renovation as nothing short of monumental.
The group, including prominent figures like Dr. Jackson Gaius-Obaseki, Chamberlain Oyibo, Funsho Kupolokun, and Andrew Yakubu, visited the refinery during their regular Former NNPC GCEOs Forum. On Wednesday, they toured the plant to assess its rehabilitation and progress.
Chamberlain Oyibo expressed satisfaction with the work done, stating that Nigerians are eagerly awaiting the products from the refinery. He emphasized the importance of speeding up the process so that the public could benefit from the operation. “This renovation is massive; it’s almost a brand-new refinery. The focus now should be on efficient operation, so Nigerians can see the products on the market,” he said.
Andrew Yakubu also confirmed that the refinery is operational, quelling doubts about its functionality. “I came here to see for myself. The refining process is complete. Petrol products are now in the tanks – I even smelled them, and they are real,” he declared. Yakubu also noted that the current management has plans to revive the Warri and Kaduna refineries as well.
The former NNPC leaders praised the current administration for its impressive work on modernizing the Port Harcourt Refinery, a plant that was originally established in 1965. Their remarks highlight the scale and significance of the ongoing transformation, which marks a major achievement for the company and the nation as a whole.
