How Prof Julius Ihonvbere Is Tackling Educational Deficiency In Owan Federal Constituency (Special Report)
Education is the foundation of growth for any country, the importance of Education can not be overemphasized, Education is the mirror of society.
Rural education should be a priority for any Nation that yearns for visionary change. It is, therefore, necessary to make concerted efforts to develop the education sector, especially in rural areas.
The provision of infrastructure and facilities for learning, distribution of educational materials, hiring of more staff, strengthening of supervisory functions on educational facilities and student scholarship are a necessity to eradicate poverty.
Education is one of the major ways to drive the much talked about social change we daily crave for.
There is a conscious need for all of us to think about educating communities, specifically rural communities. What effects would education have if we were to educate a group of people?
Education in the rural sector of the economy is important to eradicate the high poverty rate and illiteracy. Rural education will also lead to an improvement in the quality of life of the rural communities on the whole.
The foundation of transforming Nigeria into a strong nation has to be laid down at the rural level. To this kudos must be given to the Federal Lawmaker representing Owan Constituency in the National Assembly, Professor Julius Ihonvbere on his efforts in tackling Educational Deficiency In Owan Federal Constituency.
As part of our oversight function in mirroring governance and the people’s representatives, here is a list of verifiable constituency projects initiated by the Lawmaker Representing Owan Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers, Prof Julius Ihonvbere.
1. Construction of 3 Classroom block at Eguaoje Primary School, Oah – Okpuje, Owan West LGA, Edo State
2. Construction of 2 classroom block with office, store, and solar inverter in Awaika Primary School, Ivbiughulu, Owan West LGA, Edo State
3 Construction of 2 classroom block with office, store, and solar inverter in Owato Primary School Oke old, Owan West LGA, Edo State.
4. Construction 2 classroom block with office, store, and solar inverter in Oemen Primary School, Ugborbighan Erah, Owan East LGA, Edo State.
5. Eshioriri Community Primary School, Erah in Owan East LGA, Edo State – Construction of a block of 3 classrooms with VIP Toilet
6. Construction of 2 classrooms with office, store, and solar inverter in Ese Primary School in Ivbiaro, Owan East LGA, Edo State.
7. Renovation of 3 classroom blocks with office and store at Ake Primary School, Ake, Owan East LGA, Edo State
8. Renovation of Umede Primary School, Avbiosi Old Site, Iuleha, Owan West LGA, Edo State
9. Renovation of a block 3 classrooms with an office at the Obe Primary School, Sabogidda-Ora Owan West LGA, Edo State
10. Renovation of Edeki Grammar School with 10 standard classroom block, staff room, principal’s Quarter and Installation of 5,000-gallon capacity steel water storage in Owan East LGA, Edo State.
11. Renovation of 3 classroom blocks at Iloje Primary School, Okpuje, Iuleha, Owan West LGA, Edo State
12. Renovation of a block of 3 classrooms at Inumai Primary School, Ikao, Owan East LGA, Edo State
13. Renovation of a block of 3 classrooms with an office at Eteye Primary School, Emai, Owan East LGA, Edo State
14. Renovation of a block of 2 classrooms and two offices at St. Eugene Primary School, Sobe, Owan West LGA, Edo State
15. Renovation of a block of 3 classrooms with office and store at Cocoa Research Institute Primary School, Uhonmora, Owan West LGA, Edo State
16. Renovation of a block of 3 classrooms, with office and store at Orueren Primary School, Ozalla, Owan West LGA, Edo State
17. Renovation of 2 classrooms block with two offices at St. Stephens Primary School, Sobe, Owan West LGA, Edo State

2. 1,000 Mathematical textbooks, workbooks, including graph book for Secondary School.
3. 3,050 Notebooks
4. 1,000 English books
5. Two Science tools box
Other Education Support Programmes:
1. Provision of Scholarship to 50 Owan students in various approved Tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
2. Free JAMB registration to 300 Owan students from Owan East & West LGA, Edo State.
3. Essay Competition for Secondary School Students in Owan Federal Constituency – Laptop, Android phones and Cash prizes were given.
4. Federal Scholarship Program offered to Twelve (12) Beneficiaries.
The list is really endless, the lawmaker seems to be a moving train set to change the narrative of Educational deficiency in Owan Federal Constituency.
The provision and expansion of educational facilities are necessary to ensure that education reaches the door of every (Nigerian) child.
