The Federal Government has opened applications for the 2027 Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Scholarships, offering eligible Nigerian students an opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.

According to Ireporter Online, the scholarship programme is being administered by the Federal Scholarship Board under the Federal Ministry of Education, with prospective applicants expected to meet specified academic and admission requirements.

For the Master’s category, applicants must possess a first degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division. Candidates seeking to pursue doctoral studies must hold a relevant Master’s degree and have obtained at least a Second Class Lower Division in their first degree.

Applicants in both categories are also required to secure admission into at least two universities in the United Kingdom. PhD candidates must additionally submit a supporting statement from a prospective supervisor at their chosen institution.

The Federal Ministry of Education stated that applications would be assessed based on academic merit, the potential developmental impact of the proposed study after completion, and the quality of the applicant’s study plan.

Prospective candidates are required to submit their applications through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s Electronic Application System by completing the online application process and uploading all required documents.

Applicants must provide scanned copies of their passport photograph, university academic transcripts, birth certificate and admission letters from the UK institutions included in their applications.
