  • 1 cup of cocoa pod ash
  • 1 cup of palm kernel oil
  • 1 cup of shea butter
  • 1 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 cup of water

Instructions:

  1. Start by collecting cocoa pods and burning them until they turn to ash. This process can take several hours, so be patient. Once the pods are completely burned, let the ash cool down.
  2. Mix the cocoa pod ash with water to create a paste. Set it aside.
  3. In a separate pot, melt the palm kernel oil, shea butter, and coconut oil together over low heat. Stir the mixture gently until it’s well combined.
  4. Once the oils are melted and combined, add the cocoa pod ash paste to the mixture. Stir continuously to ensure that all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Continue to cook the mixture over low heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens to the desired consistency. This may take up to an hour.
  6. Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. Pour the soap mixture into molds or a container of your choice. Allow it to cool and harden completely before removing it from the molds.
  8. Once the soap has hardened, it’s ready to use! African black soap is gentle enough to use on your face and body and offers a range of skincare benefits, including cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.

By making African black soap at home, you can enjoy the natural goodness of this traditional skincare product and tailor it to suit your needs. Experiment with different ingredients and proportions to find the perfect recipe for your skin.
