that occurred in the state.

Reports indicate that around 80 people lost their lives on Saturday at Dikko Junction in Suleja Local Government Area while attempting to scoop fuel from a fallen petrol tanker.

Minister Yilwatda described the incident, which resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, as deeply unfortunate and heart-wrenching. He extended his prayers for the souls of the deceased and for the swift recovery of those injured.

The Minister also praised the swift response of the State Governor, Umaru Bago, who visited the site of the explosion, as well as the efforts of agencies such as the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, the Fire Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Nigeria Police in assisting the victims.

“I am profoundly saddened by the recurring tanker explosions in the country, which continue to result in loss of lives, injuries, and property damage,” Yilwatda said. “I share in the grief of the community that has lost loved ones in this devastating incident. May God comfort the families of the victims and bring healing to the injured.”

The Minister urged motorists to refrain from reckless driving and emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety measures and conducting regular vehicle maintenance.
