ICPC Probes 4,705 Cases, Recovers N450.9bn In Four Years

Additionally, the Commission recovered lands and buildings exceeding N25.361 billion and secured a final forfeiture of N8.823 billion during the same period.

Speaking at a workshop themed “Role of Media in the Fight Against Corruption: Lessons from Other Countries” in Kano, Assistant Commissioner Hassan Salisu revealed that ICPC also retrieved N13.418 billion from businesses and farms.

Salisu highlighted that the Commission monitored 3,422 projects under the Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTI) from 2019 to 2022. Furthermore, ICPC filed 309 cases in court, with 387 cases currently under prosecution, leading to 85 convictions.

Emphasizing the crucial role of the media in combating corruption, Hassan urged journalists to actively participate in the fight against bribery and gratification, emphasizing the pivotal role of their reporting in achieving a corruption-free Nigeria.
