Ikorodu City Celebrate Atata, Adeoye After Super Eagles Call-Ups
NPFL club Ikorodu City have celebrated goalkeeper Michael Atata and midfielder Aderemi Adeoye following their inclusion in the Super Eagles squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
According to reports, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle announced his squads on Thursday for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as an international friendly against Russia.
Nigeria are scheduled to face Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29 in their opening AFCON 2027 qualifying matches before taking on Russia in a friendly on October 6.
Atata and Adeoye were named in the 24-man squad for the international friendly against Russia. Atata was selected as one of three goalkeepers alongside Stanley Nwabali and Samuel James, while Adeoye was included among the midfielders.
The call-ups represent a significant milestone for both players, who could make their senior international debuts if selected to feature.
Their inclusion also marks a notable achievement for Ikorodu City, with the Lagos-based club continuing to see its players attract attention at the national level.
Reacting to the development, Ikorodu City celebrated the duo in a post on its official X account, describing their selection as a proud moment for the club.
