Innocence Prevails: Exonerating Campaign Against Akpata Unfounded, Edolites React As The Leading Labour Aspirant Breaks Silence

On the 4th of February, a protest erupted at the Secretariat of the Edo State Labour Party, where residents demanded the removal of Julius Abure, the party’s national chairman, following his decision to withdraw executives from the primaries.

Opposition forces, both internal and external, have seized every opportunity to tarnish Akpata’s image with baseless accusations and misleading campaigns, seeking to diminish his stature as the frontrunner across party lines by unjustly linking him to the recent protest.

Olumide Osaigbivo Akpata, a former Nigerian Bar Association President and a dedicated member of the Labour Party, stands resilient against these unfounded attacks. With over three decades of legal expertise, he staunchly upholds the principle that peaceful protest is a fundamental right of every Nigerian citizen.

Edolites across social media platforms are currently rallying to counter the false narratives against Akpata, reaffirming their support for him as the “Next Edo State Governor.”

Though Akpata has broken his silence on the malicious rumors attempting to besmirch his reputation in the state, he remains resolute. He addresses the allegations, clarifying that they stem from certain quarters within and outside the Labour Party, which oppose his candidacy in the upcoming primary elections scheduled for February 22, 2024.

Expressing his dismay at the underhanded tactics employed by his detractors, Mr. Akpata reassures his supporters that he will employ the full extent of his legal expertise to defend himself against any unwarranted attacks.
