Innoson CEO Meets with Tinubu, Unveils Plans for CNG-Powered Buses
Significant move towards revolutionizing Nigeria’s transportation sector, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, has announced plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses. This initiative is set to provide the Nigerian public with more affordable and environmentally friendly transportation options.
Mr. Chukwuma made this announcement following a pivotal meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday. Speaking to journalists after the closed-door discussion, he expressed his optimism about the government’s efforts to promote CNG as a viable fuel alternative for transportation, referring to it as “the way forward” for Nigeria.
“I’ve discussed with him (President Tinubu), and soon the masses will have plenty of CNG buses on the road,” Mr. Chukwuma stated, emphasizing the commitment to deploying these cost-effective buses across the nation.
He also called on Nigerians to remain patient with the Tinubu administration, assuring them that substantial improvements in the transportation sector are forthcoming. “Give him time,” Mr. Chukwuma urged, highlighting that the benefits of the government’s CNG-powered vehicle initiative would soon be evident.
Elaborating on the advantages of the Presidential CNG Initiative, Mr. Chukwuma noted, “The government’s initiative on CNG is the best idea for transportation in this country because CNG offers many benefits for Nigeria. That benefit is what I recognized before I started the factory to produce vehicles that run on CNG. I began producing CNG kits before the announcement.”
Concluding his remarks, Mr. Chukwuma affirmed that CNG technology represents a major advancement for Nigeria’s transportation industry. “So today, everyone who tries CNG will find that it is the way forward for this nation,” he said.
This development marks a promising step towards a more sustainable and cost-effective transportation system in Nigeria, aligning with global trends in clean energy and environmental conservation.
