According to Ireporter Online, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has strongly criticized individuals who accuse political leaders of being indifferent to the rising security challenges across the country, describing such claims as mischievous and misleading.

The governor made this known while speaking during a televised political programme on Sunday, where he reacted to recent discussions among Northern governors and traditional rulers in Kaduna over worsening insecurity in parts of the region.

Governor Sule explained that insecurity in Nigeria has evolved over time, noting that violent activities were previously concentrated in the North-East due to insurgent operations, but have now spread to the North-West and North-Central zones. He recalled how insurgents once employed extreme tactics, including the abduction of children as human shields, stressing that the pattern of violence has since shifted across regions.

He further revealed that leaders at both state and federal levels are constantly under pressure, receiving daily security briefings and emergency reports about attacks and rescue efforts. According to him, the responsibility of governance involves regular engagements with security agencies, particularly during incidents of kidnappings and rescue operations.

Governor Sule insisted that claims suggesting leaders are unconcerned or inactive in tackling insecurity are unfair and inaccurate. He affirmed that Northern leaders and the Federal Government are making deliberate efforts to combat the situation and remain committed to doing even more to restore safety across the country.

He reassured Nigerians that despite the current challenges, significant work is ongoing behind the scenes to improve security and protect lives and property.
