IPMAN President Addresses Petrol Scarcity In Nigeria
Abubakar Maigandi, the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has shed light on the ongoing petrol scarcity in the country, attributing it to logistical challenges faced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and marketers…..READ ALSO IPMAN: Petrol Prices At Filling Stations Should Be ₦900 Per Litre, Claims Subsidy Returned By Tinubu Gov’t
According to Maigandi, the shortage in petrol supply stems from logistical issues within the NNPCL, which in turn affects the distribution process. He acknowledged that while the NNPCL claimed to have resolved its logistical problems, it takes time for products to be transported from depots to filling stations across various states.
Maigandi emphasized that IPMAN members have begun loading petrol from depots in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Warri to address the scarcity. However, he noted that logistical challenges persist in transporting the products to their final destinations.
Despite the queues at filling stations and concerns among motorists, Maigandi reassured the public that there is no official plan to increase the price of petrol. He clarified that panic buying and speculation about a price hike have contributed to the current situation but reiterated that there has been no change in the petrol price.
While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Maigandi expressed optimism that the queues would clear soon as logistical operations improve and petrol distribution becomes more efficient. He urged the public to remain patient and assured that efforts are underway to resolve the petrol scarcity issue.
