“It Was A Case Of Assassination” – Apostle Suleman’s Attacker Confesses
During a police parade in Abuja, Yusuf Isah, one of the suspects involved in the attack on prominent cleric Apostle Johnson Suleman, confessed that their intention was to assassinate him.
The 32-year-old Isah was arrested in connection with the October 2022 attack on the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide.
He was paraded along with other suspects accused of various offenses, including conspiracy to attempted murder, murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and possession of illicit narcotics.
In an interview with journalists, Isah admitted that the attack on the cleric was planned as an assassination.
He revealed that he and his gang members pursued Apostle Suleman until they ambushed his convoy using five AK-47 rifles. Isah clarified that he was the one who opened fire on the convoy.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, Isah was apprehended by agents from the Intelligence Rapid Team after an extensive investigation.
The suspect was found in possession of five AK-47 rifles, two K2 rifles, and 180 live ammunition. Some of the seized weapons were allegedly stolen from the three police officers who were killed in the incident.
Adejobi stated that Isah confessed to being a member of the criminal gang involved in several kidnapping operations, including the abduction of an oil magnate and a businessman. The gang demanded ransoms of N70 million and N2 million for their release, respectively. Isah admitted that he joined the group in 2021 after being released from Olokuta Correctional Centre, where he had been remanded since 2019 for alleged involvement in armed robbery.
The police spokesperson added that two members of the gang had been killed in separate encounters with the police, and efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects who are still at large.
