In a statement issued on Friday in Lagos, Amode responded to the uproar sparked by Adediran’s assertion that he is still the state’s party leader.

Adediran, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election, declared himself as the party’s leader during a meeting with former members of his campaign committee and other party members last Sunday.

This declaration led to calls from some party stakeholders for Adediran to retract his leadership claim and apologize to the party.

Amode defended Adediran’s declaration, stating that many supposed PDP leaders allegedly defected to other parties around the 2023 general elections. He clarified that the party did not summon Adediran to any meeting to apologize for his statement.

Amode emphasized, “Nobody can deny that as the governorship candidate of the party in Lagos State in 2023, Jandor is now one of the party leaders in the state.”

He added that Adediran’s leadership role does not undermine the duties of the executive members of the party in the state.

Questioning the rationale behind demanding an apology from Adediran, Amode highlighted the lack of accountability for those who worked against the party. He argued that Adediran, who upheld the party’s values despite challenges, deserves celebration rather than condemnation.
