Accompanying the Vice President were the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbass. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, Shettima moved his condolence visit to Thursday.

The visit follows the tragic airstrike that occurred four days earlier, resulting in the death of over 85 individuals and injuries to several others in the North-Western state. The incident has garnered condemnation from both local and international watchdogs, prompting calls for investigations and a standardized review of procedural activities.

Taking responsibility for the accident, the Army, through the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, apologized to the community during his visit and pledged to prevent a recurrence of such an incident.
