Kamo State Breaks Silence On Rumoured Rift With Funke Akindele

Popular Nigerian skit maker Akinyoola Ayoola, widely known as Kamo State, has dismissed rumours suggesting that he has fallen out with acclaimed actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, insisting that their relationship remains cordial despite recent speculation.

According to Ireporter Online, the comedian explained that their reduced public appearances together are a result of increasingly demanding work schedules rather than any personal disagreement.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Yoruba on Wednesday, Kamo State said the rumours emerged simply because they have not been seen together as frequently as before, stressing that there is no rift between them.

He recalled that he had admired Funke Akindele long before they met, describing her as one of his biggest inspirations in the entertainment industry. Kamo State revealed that their first meeting took place on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa, where the actress treated him with kindness and respect, prompting him to affectionately begin calling her “mummy.”

According to the skit maker, Akindele later recognised his dedication and work ethic, creating opportunities for him to feature in more of her productions, including Ayetoro and Behind the Scene, which further strengthened their professional relationship.

He maintained that they remain close but are currently focused on separate projects, noting that Funke Akindele is occupied with preparations for her upcoming December production while his own career has also become busier than in previous years.
