Kano Hisba Arrests Young Men Over Ramadan Fast, Bans Indecent Haircuts

Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, confirmed the arrests, stating that Hisba operatives conducted routine patrols across Kano metropolis to enforce Islamic laws.

Alongside enforcing fasting regulations, the board also cracked down on individuals sporting “indecent haircuts,” arresting about 60 people. Hisba officials claimed that such hairstyles violate Islamic teachings and cultural norms.

Additionally, several commercial tricycle (keke napep) operators were apprehended for carrying mixed-gender passengers, a practice the agency strongly opposes. Hisba reaffirmed its stance against the mingling of unrelated men and women in public transport, warning of further enforcement actions.
