Kendrick Lamar Set To Drop New Album After Five Years
Kendrick Lamar announced on Monday that he would be dropping a new album.
The 34-year old rapper made this known via a tweet in response to a fan asking him if he had retired. Lamar tweeted a link that takes users to his website with a letter headed message from PGLang record label affirming his new album.
The new album titled “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” is anticipated to drop on 13th May.
The Twitter user thrilled by Lamar’s response wrote “I brought Kendrick Lamar out of retirement.”
Since the news surfaced, devoted fans who thought the rapper had retired have been shown how thirsty they have been waiting for the rapper since his last album DAMN was released in 2017 also earned him a Grammy award.
However, even though no album has been released in the past years, Lamar has been working at a slower pace as he contributed to the 2018 soundtrack of Black Panther plus his performance with SZA, All the Stars.
In that time he earned a Grammy with Keem for “Family Ties” in the Best Rap Performance last month.
His anticipated album “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” will be his fifth album and will be released in conjunction with PGLang which is Lamar’s record label and Top Dawg Entertainment and will be his last album with Top Dawg.
Lamar describes “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” as a deep reflection on what matters the most in an ever-changing world while he writes in appreciation of Top Dawg entertainment ‘‘May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all. See you soon enough.’’
