Kenneth Okonkwo Drops Support for Peter Obi: Reveals Why
Dramatic shift, renowned Nollywood actor, producer, and director Kenneth Okonkwo has announced that he will no longer support Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and former presidential candidate. Okonkwo, who previously served as Obi’s spokesperson during his presidential campaign, took to social media to explain his decision.
In a recent Instagram post, Okonkwo expressed his loss of confidence in Obi’s ability to build a strong political party capable of competing at the highest level. He criticized Obi for failing to demonstrate the necessary qualities to secure and sustain political victory, even if the people vote for him.
Okonkwo emphasized his concern about Obi’s capability to manage and lead effectively, stating that he does not want to support someone who cannot maintain success once achieved. He expressed full support for the Labour Unions and other stakeholders now working to protect the Labour Party’s integrity without Obi’s backing.
In his own words:
“However, the consequence is that I no longer have the confidence that Peter Obi has what it takes to build a party that can win these kakistocrats and kleptocrats. Above all, he has proved that even if the people vote for him, he doesn’t have what it takes to secure the mandate. I don’t intend to embark on such a campaign as we did in 2023, projecting a person who cannot sustain the victory even if he wins.”
“I am of course in full support of the Labour Unions and other stakeholders who are now compelled to fight for the soul of the Labour Party without the support of Peter Obi,” Okonkwo concluded.
The announcement has sparked significant reactions from the public, reflecting the ongoing debate about the future direction of the Labour Party and its leadership.
