Why we endorsed Bolarinwa for 2027 gov race – Kwara APC elders

Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) drawn from the three senatorial districts of Kwara State have thrown their weight behind Bashir Bolarinwa as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. According to Ireporter Online, the endorsement was announced during a press briefing held on Sunday in Ilorin, where the party stalwarts highlighted Bolarinwa’s track record, competence, and personal integrity as key factors that distinguish him among other aspirants.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Ladi Mustapha noted that Bolarinwa possesses the intellectual capacity and leadership experience required to tackle insecurity while advancing socio-economic growth and improving the education sector in the state. He further described the aspirant as a respected figure known for honesty, sincerity, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.

Mustapha explained that the decision to endorse Bolarinwa followed a careful assessment of all potential contenders, stressing that the current political climate in Kwara demands a leader with proven character, competence, and the ability to unify diverse interests. He emphasized that Bolarinwa’s conduct in both public and private life reflects discipline, transparency, and accountability, qualities considered essential for credible governance.

The APC chieftain also highlighted Bolarinwa’s extensive political background spanning over two decades, during which he served in various capacities including councillor, local government chairman in Lagos State, and member of the House of Representatives. He added that Bolarinwa’s tenure as Kwara APC chairman in 2018 further underscored his leadership strength and ability to effectively manage resources and party structures.

Describing him as a bridge-builder, Mustapha said Bolarinwa has cultivated strong relationships across the state, cutting across ethnic, religious, and political lines. He noted that the aspirant’s engagement with traditional institutions, youth groups, professionals, and grassroots communities positions him as a candidate capable of fostering unity and inclusive governance.

The elders also pointed to Bolarinwa’s role in political mobilization within the state, portraying him as a central figure in past political movements with a deep understanding of Kwara’s political landscape. They further described him as a leader driven by strong moral values who views public office as an opportunity to serve with compassion, fairness, and dedication to improving the lives of citizens.

They expressed confidence that his emergence as governor would usher in inclusive development, strengthened unity, and sustainable progress across the state.

In his remarks, former Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Raphael Adetiba, reaffirmed that the APC remains committed to internal democracy and due process. He maintained that while all qualified Nigerians have the right to contest elective positions, emphasis should be placed on competence and leadership capacity rather than regional considerations.
