arrested after a disturbing video showed her repeatedly slapping the child during a lesson, pleaded not guilty to the charges presented against her.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency confirmed the incident via a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

The statement read, “Following the disturbing viral case of child abuse, all parties involved appeared today, 9th January 2024, at the Ogba Magistrate Court.

“The case was heard by Magistrate M.O. Kusanu. Two charges were filed against the suspect, to which she pleaded not guilty.”

During the proceedings, Nwadigo’s defense applied for bail, which was set at ₦200,000 with two verifiable sureties.

“The suspect has been remanded in a correctional facility, and the next court date is set for 18th January 2024,” the agency added.

The case has ignited widespread outrage, with many demanding harsher penalties for teachers found guilty of abusing their pupils.
