Sanusi highlighted that a person’s true identity is not defined by their wealth, title, or possessions but by their character, actions, and values.

“If you’re a senator, an emir, a governor, or a wealthy man, those are titles and possessions—it’s not who you are. You can have a poor man who is a thief, and you can be a rich man and still be a thief,” the Emir stated, emphasizing that one’s legacy should be built on honesty, kindness, and trustworthiness.

He also noted that public office is a divine privilege and a test of leadership. According to him, leaders should use their positions to uplift society rather than amass personal wealth.

“Leadership is an opportunity to transform lives. God tests us by placing us in positions of power. Your legacy isn’t the wealth you accumulate but the positive impact you make,” Sanusi said.

The Emir expressed concern over leaders who squander opportunities to make meaningful contributions, opting instead for personal gain. He warned that material possessions often lead to conflicts and waste, as future generations misuse inherited wealth.

Sanusi concluded by urging Nigerian leaders to focus on societal progress and leave behind a legacy of service, rather than a trail of greed and corruption.
