Loading: How Saliu Mustapha Is Gradually Emerging The Star Attraction Of APC
Pending any unforeseen political occurrence, the ruling party the All Progressives Congress, APC would be holding its national convention on the 26th of March 2022 at Abuja.
Riding high on the wave of agitations of the integrity status of the contenders by party stakeholders and members, the presidency is expected to come up with a strategy that would ensure a free, fair and credible process through which the next national chairman and other executive members of the NEC would emerge.
The convention is being held at a time Nigerians are inquisitive about who their next leaders would be. Credibility is the watchword and only exemplary party leadership can offer Nigerians the best leaders they deserve.
Turaki of Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has emerged as the leading contender to clinch the party’s chairmanship seat according to two top sources at the presidential villa who both cautioned that the presidency has not yet made a final decision and could still make a U-TURN.
According to the sources who craved anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press, Mallam Saliu Mustapha comes first on the integrity scale as the relevant security and law enforcement agencies saddled with the responsibility of profiling the contestants for the national chairmanship position places him ahead of other contenders.
His clean bill of health(anti-corruption) is of great concern to the president who happens to be a long time ally of Mallam Saliu Mustapha.
” You can take it to the bank that as at this moment Mallam Saliu Mustapha happens to be the front runner, in line with the President’s anti-corruption stance we may see Kwara State clinching the party’s chairmanship seat.
The APC is looking for rejuvenation and Saliu may be the best suited to be in the driver’s seat for this rebirth. Unless things changes in the coming days, Saliu Mustapha remains the most ideal candidate for the job.” Our source opined.
Sources claim in the coming days Mustapha’s choice would be felt amongst party stakeholders and delegates. Mustapha 49 has been a favourite for the Chairmanship seat since the start of Buhari’s search for a credible chairman to lead the APC into the 2023 general elections.
Other sources attributed Saliu’s successes to his commitment to party loyalty which puts him as perhaps the only aspirant left who has never switched political camps.
“Saliu Mustapha has always been a core party man who uses every single opportunity at his disposal to showcase the achievements of the Buhari’s led APC administration.
We are glad that we are almost getting there, the waiting game is finally over and we shall soon have a National Chairman based on his popularity amongst party members.
Saliu Mustapha has done his homework very well, it is expected that his efforts would be rewarded at the National Convention.”
In recent times the media has been awash with different tales of various aspirants anointed by the President.
The Presidency has however denied endorsing any aspirant for the APC’s top job.
