Man Arrested In Rivers After Slitting Wife’s Throat During Argument

According to Ireporter Online, a tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Amaji village, Umuoyoro community, Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, where a man identified as Mr. Abuchi allegedly slit his wife’s throat during an argument. The woman, a mother of two, reportedly died from the injury inflicted on her at their farm.

Sources indicated that a dispute erupted between the couple before the husband allegedly attacked his wife with a kitchen knife. Neighbors reportedly heard her screams, rushed to the scene, overpowered the man, and restrained him until authorities arrived.

The Rivers State Police confirmed the arrest of Mr. Abuchi, with Police Public Relations Officer CSP Grace Iringe-Koko stating that a detailed investigation had been ordered to ensure justice is served.

The Centre for Basic Rights and Accountability Campaign (CBRAC) condemned the incident as an extreme act of cruelty and urged the police to carry out a thorough probe. Prince Wiro, the group’s National Coordinator, emphasized that the killing was unjustifiable and called for the case to be treated as murder.
